Gatlinburg Getaway

We are so grateful to Sandy and Warren for giving us the opportunity to stay at their time-share in Gatlinburg, TN.
The resort was beautifully tucked away in the TN mountains with its own indoor waterpark, which we just fell in love with. Although our kiddos are still uncomfortable around pools, they had such a great time! It did get a little challenging at times as Hannah couldn't wear her prosthesis in the water (it can't get wet), and her little knees got pretty scraped up crawling in the toddler play area, but she never complained. I did notice quite a few stares from others when they realized Hannah was missing a leg, but none of the stares were harsh... of which I'm extremely grateful. We all enjoyed our time there and can't wait to go back!

The toddler area had two small slides for the little ones, and by the end of our second day at the waterpark, both kiddos absolutely LOVED sliding down into the water!

Hannah so desperately wanted to climb up the stairs to the slide on her own....and she did (I still held onto her a little)!! She took one step with her left foot and the next with her little stump and climbed right on up that ladder. I was thrilled and amazed by her determination and perseverance!

Joshua and Hannah are such amazing children. We are very blessed!

So glad you guys had fun and that you didn't get too many stares. I want to do swimming lessons with Eli this spring and am worried about it. I guess its just one of those things that we have to get used to. Love to you!

Hi Tara,
So glad to see you guys had that great getaway. Sounds like an awesome place. Love your pictures too! I've thought about taking Lauren to a water park or for swim lessons and wonder if her little leg and foot would get stares. I guess that people will look because it's different and I just hope I learn how to handle it well, and that I can teach Lauren the best way to handle it. Take care.
